Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 579. Troop 579 is located in Niles, Michigan and is part of the Lasalle Council. Our Troop is chartered by the Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church located at 217 S. Lincoln Ave., Niles, Michigan. We hold troop meetings every Monday evening from 7:00pm – 8:30pm and usually have at least one overnight camping event and day event each month. Troop members also participate in various fund raising events that provide a way for the scouts to earn funds to cover their scouting expenses.

Activities include traditional scouting events such as the First-Aid Meet, Scout-A-Rama, Soap-Box-Derby, Advancement Weekends and Summer Camp. The troop also participates in regular horizon-expanding events such as canoeing, cycling, hiking and local and wilderness camping to promote teamwork as well as individual skills. The main goal of Troop 579 is to provide an opportunity for our scouts to learn leadership skills while participating in and enjoying outdoor activities and community projects. Through the numerous activities the boys have fun and develop character, citizenship and leadership. Troop 579 is comprised of many adults with diverse backgrounds and strongly supports parents’ involvement. You are welcome to visit any troop meeting and most campouts.
